Set in Bartlett, New Hampshire, this in-progress residence is envisioned as a modern mountain retreat that balances current high-performance building strategies with a clear, restrained design sensibility.
Guided by the client’s priorities and our own commitment to durability and energy efficiency, the home is carefully nestled into a dynamic, wooded site. The architecture uses soaring roof forms to frame and capture the surrounding views, creating interior spaces that feel expansive while remaining grounded in simplicity.
A warm palette of nature-inspired materials supports the home’s desired character, including a selective use of reclaimed wood to bring depth, texture, and a sense of history. The result is a distinctly “primitive modern” atmosphere: elemental and tactile, yet cleanly detailed and contemporary in performance and execution.
