Historic Townhouse Renovation

Located in Bay Village, Boston, this renovation reimagines a historic home from the garden level through the attic, improving day-to-day function while creating a stronger connection to outdoor space.

At the garden level, a new garden pavilion was added with a connector passage back to the main house. A new bathroom, a redesigned dining bay window with a door to the garden, and a renovated kitchen/dining area strengthen the relationship between indoor living and the rear landscape.

On the first floor, updates focused on circulation and storage, including a renovated powder room, an improved entry/mudroom sequence, and new closets. Living spaces were refreshed with the option for a balcony or deck and the potential for visual connection to the level below.

The second floor was reorganized to support private living, including a primary bedroom with improved closet space, a renovated bathroom, a family room with storage, and a dedicated laundry room.

In the attic, two new bedrooms and a new bathroom were created, along with front and rear dormers that bring in light, increase headroom, and make the upper level a fully functional part of the home.
